Seesaw

To boost students' speaking skills and confidence, one of the apps that we have been adopting lately is called Seesaw. In this platform, teachers first assign certain tasks for students, who will respond by making videos, slideshows or recordings that are published to the whole class through an online platform. However, Seesaw comes with a handful of awesome features that appeal to our teachers, parents as well as students. For teachers, it provides a convenient way for them to access all their students’ work on a single platform. Students’ performance throughout the year can be viewed at a glance with just a single click. For students, they also enjoy the process of making their video presentations embellished with colourful decorations and backgrounds, as well as providing voice comments to their peers.  Parents can also keep track of their children’s learning progress and communicate with the teacher by simply registering their own email accounts on the platform.

Padlet

Some other students also designed and presented their work on Padlet. Under the guidance of our NET, they also expressed season greetings or performed other speaking tasks there. For higher grade students, they commented on the magazines they read and made video recordings to show what they have learnt from the textbook. They were also taught to comment on the works by their classmates. Click here to see a collection of students’ work in Padlet.

Glogster

Despite the reduction in face-to-face teaching time caused by the ongoing pandemic, our students are constantly engaging in self-directed learning outside classrooms using various e-learning tools. Our students showcased how they worked collaboratively to complete a travel brochure online. First, they carried out mini-research by browsing different websites and jotting down key information in Google Doc. Afterwards, they organized the information and transformed it into an attractive travel brochure, which was then published in a website called Glogster. In addition to texts, multi-modal elements such as photos, graphics and even their own voice recordings were included. Finally, they evaluated each other’s work and reflected on their performance. Let’s take a look at some of the students’ marvelous work.
